Personal Review:
This book was a delightful surprise.
There were so many ways it could have gone wrong. When the main character is married within the first few chapters and it turns out she had a long-distance crush on her new husband's brother...there are just so many uncomfortable scenarios I was afraid of happening.
But the story was far from uncomfortable. It was so beautiful. Felicity struggles in her own unique ways - one of those being social panic attacks. I thought the anxiety was so well represented and her bookish ways sat super close to my heart. I also loved that the entire book was from her perspective. I'm not opposed to dual perspective in romance, but it's been a while since I've read a single and I loved not knowing everything that was happening in the main male character's mind.
Speaking of him, James was such a great character. I am a sucker for steady, oldest sons (I may have married one) and he is portrayed so well. He sets a sweet example of choosing love, which Felicity quickly follows and which also spills over into other relationships with in-laws and friends. Oh my, some of it was so swoon-worthy.
For some reason, I was not expecting great things from such a scandalous blurb, but it was super sweet, super clean, and very well done.
Content Warnings:
there are some scenes of Felicity noticing James’ physique or when they are together while he has his shirt off, but I thought this was tastefully done as well as realistic since they were married at the time
