Personal Review:
I really liked the concept of this book. I probably need to read her original Self-Compassion book as the Fierce part doesn't tend to be a problem for me :). However, I felt her message would have been better received (by me) if it wasn't so peppered with social justice/movements. I realize that is important to some people but I don't pay attention to those and don't care to read about them either.
I did enjoy the chapters that were very practical for personal and daily living and integrating the practices. Her personal anecdotes were helpful and I have already put some of the exercises into practice. So, in summary, the book itself was a bit of a slog but the nuggets I got out of it were important enough that I kept reading to the end.
You can find the practices on her website: self-compassion.org
Content Warnings:
the author shares about her own affair, her two divorces, and the multiple affairs of her second husband; her son has autism and the stories involving him could be helpful or triggering for a mother in a similar situation
